Is MTM covered by Medicare Part D or private insurance?
Yes! Most Medicare Part D plans provide an annual Comprehensive Medication Review (CMR) at no additional charge to eligible beneficiaries. Many commercial health insurance plans also cover MTM services. Our staff can verify your eligibility prior to your appointment.
How should I prepare for my MTM appointment?
Please bring all your medication bottles—including prescriptions, over-the-counter pain relievers, allergy medications, eye drops, ointments, vitamins, and herbal supplements. You may also want to write down any questions, side effects, or cost concerns you'd like to discuss.
What is the difference between standard counseling and an MTM session?
Standard counseling occurs when you pick up a prescription and covers basic directions for that specific medicine. An MTM session is a formal, scheduled 30–45 minute deep-dive consultation evaluating all your medicines collectively, reviewing your lab values, screening for interactions, and producing a formal action plan.
Will the pharmacist change my medications directly?
No. Our pharmacists do not change your prescriptions on their own. Instead, we compile a detailed clinical summary and send our recommendations directly to your prescribing physician. Any adjustments are made collaboratively with your doctor's approval.
Can family members or caregivers attend the consultation?
Yes, absolutely! We welcome and encourage family members, caregivers, or healthcare proxies to join the consultation so everyone is on the same page regarding the patient's daily medication schedule and care plan.
