Do I need to fast before my cholesterol or blood glucose test?
For the most accurate lipid panel (especially triglycerides and LDL) and fasting glucose tests, fasting for 8 to 12 hours prior to the test is recommended (water is encouraged). However, non-fasting screenings and HbA1c tests can be performed anytime without fasting!
How long does a health screening take?
Most single screenings (such as blood pressure or glucose) take less than 5 minutes. A complete comprehensive biometric screening (blood pressure, lipid panel, glucose, and BMI) takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes, including your 1-on-1 pharmacist consultation.
Do I need a doctor's prescription or appointment to get screened?
No prescription or appointment is needed! All of our screening services are performed under our pharmacy's CLIA certificate of waiver. You can simply walk into Ricker Pharmacy whenever it fits your schedule.
Are pharmacy health screenings accurate?
Yes. We utilize certified, laboratory-grade point-of-care analyzers that undergo routine quality control calibration and meet strict CLIA and FDA accuracy standards for clinical screening.
What happens if my screening results are outside the normal range?
Our pharmacist will explain your results thoroughly, provide dietary and lifestyle recommendations, and give you a printed summary. If your numbers indicate elevated risk, we will advise you to follow up with your primary care doctor and can send the results directly to their office.
